Car show gets spectators' engines running
The glint of chrome could be seen for miles during the seventh annual Twin City Idlers (TCI) "Show and Shine" car show held Sunday. Hundreds of spectators enjoyed the warm weather as they checked out nearly 500 classic, custom, sport and racing vehicles that lined 271st Street NW from 88th Avenue NW to just past Stanwood Middle School. Sno-Isle to request a levy lift
The Sno-Isle Libraries Board of Trustees decided to go for a compromise last Monday . ask for a 9-cent levy increase and make some cuts. Although the library projected deficit of $2.5 million in 2010 wasn't directly related to the current economy, the library system still had to take the economy into account, said Jacquelyn DeFazio, board vicepresident, of Camano Island. Bus routes to change with district cuts
Like other areas, transportation in the Stanwood-Camano School District will experience budget cuts next year. Stops within a one-mile radius of school will be discontinued for middle and high school students where there is a safe walking path of sidewalks and cross walks, said Gary Platt, district executive director of business and operations. The Camano Country Club's Women's Club is having a picnic at Cama Beach Mon., July 13, with carpooling from the country club, 11 a.m., picnic at 11:30 a.m. and tour of Cama Beach at 1 p.m. Members are asked to bring their own sandwich. EDWARD J. DONOVAN
Born 6- 23-24 in Erickson, Nebraska to Joseph and Nellie Gray Donovan. Passed away 6-24-09. Edward was the oldest of seven children. He had two brothers and four sisters. The family moved to Yakima during the Great Depression. He was 85 when he died. Full Story
RONALD B. ANDERSEN
Ronald B. Andersen passed away after a long illness on June 25, 2009. Ron was born Oct. 5, 1938 in Los Angeles to Hans Peter Andersen, who immigrated from Denmark, and his mother, Mary Stagg. Ron attended North High School in Torrance, CA, and at the age of 18, he signed with the Boston Red Socks. He was later traded to the San Francisco Giants. Full Story
Marilyn S. Hill
Marilyn Saling Hill, born to Fred and Ann Saling March 6, 1947, passed away June 14 in her home on Camano Island when she lost a battle with emphysema. Full Story
