Thanks for help with carnival
Dear Editor: Utasalady Elementary School (UES) had their end-ofthe year school carnival and silent auction June 5, and it was a great success! Not only did we have the biggest attendance at the carnival this year, but were able to raise $4,400 in three hours at our silent auction. Full Story
My school should do things better
Dear Editor: I am a fifth-grader at Elger Bay Elementary, where they teach us that recycling is the best thing for the planet, but they do not even recycle themselves! You see, they set up the recycling bins in every classroom, and we all sit there sorting out the recyclables and the non-recyclables. Full Story
Thank you to 14-U coaches
Dear Editor: I want to thank you for putting the picture of the Stanwood Spartan Pony League 14-U baseball team in the paper June 2. It was very exciting for the players, coaches and parents that Stanwood was awarded first place in a baseball tournament. Full Story
Judge Hancock is outstanding Is. County judge
Dear Editor: I would like to add my voice to the chorus lauding Island County Superior Court Judge Alan Hancock. He was recently awarded the Twenty-Year Judicial Service Award from the Washington State Association for Justice in honor of his exemplary performance from the bench. Full Story
City improved library's landscape
Dear Editor: On behalf of the Stanwood Library, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the city of Stanwood for the recent landscaping on the west side of the building. After a brutal winter, many of the established plants surrounding the building didn't survive, and the west side was hit especially hard. Full Story
