100 YEARS AGO (1909) May and Albert Moe joined the ranks of married folks in Stanwood. She worked at the Stanwood Hotel and he guided log booms up the slough for the Howard Mill. He was later to become the mayor, and bought a little white house for her, her heart's desire, at the edge of the city limits going to Camano, which still stands. Full Story
Volunteer honored
The Mayor Dianne White recently presented Tom Webb a plaque honoring him for 23 years of volunteer service with the Stanwood City Fire Department. He was the last volunteer for the department. Full Story

Ripples
Ripples was a stray when he arrived at Camano Animal Shelter Association (CASA). He is a very sweet cat who loves people and does OK with all the other cats. Ripples is around 4 years old. Full Story

Marley is a 7-year-old neutered male cat at CASA. Marley was surrendered because his owners were moving out of state. Marley is a very sweet cat and would make a great companion. Please come give this guy a chance. Full Story

Trevor is a sweet Australian Cattle dog mix, who is about 8 years old at NOAH. He is blind, so he'll need a patient and willing owner to work with him. Full Story
Swimmers in Pasco
A formidable contingent of 17 girls and five boys participated in the first all-team travel swim meet May 29-31 in Pasco, WA, competing in a 50-meter outdoor pool. The temperature was hot outside, and the Steelheads swimmers were hot inside the pool as well. Full Story
