Learn about upgrades to CIFR fire stations

Camano Island Fire and Rescue will hold a public meeting at Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Rd., Camano Island, on June 24, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., for the purpose of presenting information on the planned seismic upgrade of the Terry's Corner Fire Station.

"The station currently does not meet seismic structural codes, and bringing it up to code while other modernization work takes place will decrease costs and construction time," said Emergency Manager Mike Simmons.

The need for the project has been identified in the fire district's portion of the Island County Hazard Mitigation plan. The fire district intends to apply for matching federal mitigation grant funds to off-set the work.

The meeting will address the strategy involved, various options available, and the hazard mitigation program.
