Drivers, watch out for bicyclists
Dear Editor: I would like to raise an issue that hopefully will save someone from serious injury or worse. I am a bicycle rider, and the other morning, I was riding north on Elger Bay Road on Camano Island. The blinking lights were on to remind all cars to slow down to 20 mph because of the traffic turning into and out of Elger Bay School. I was going about 10 mph. Full Story

Litter pick-up gathered trash
Dear Editor: The Camano Island Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who turned out for a very successful "Clean Camano" litter pick-up on June 6. We were able to gather almost 200 bags of trash from roads all over the island! Full Story

Dear Editor: I want to thank all the survivors for coming to our Relay for Life Fri., May 29! What a rousing success our relay was. The American Cancer Society said we had 220 survivors — that's 100 more than last year! Full Story
Some offenders should be let out
Dear Editor: With over 200 people incarcerated for life for low-level offenses under our harsh three strikes law, we have finally released one man for clemency. He had been in prison since 1994 for being a purse-snatcher, a crime that would normally carry a standard sentence of three months to seven years. Full Story
