Recently I subscribed to a couple of magazines. I picked up the colorful pages and started browsing the content as I sipped on a cup of coffee while munching on my pop tart. Cascade Valley Hospital Wound Care Center named top 10 in U.S.
For the second time in five years, Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington has received national praise for its Wound Care Program. The center received Diversified Clinical Service's award as a Center of Distinction. Cascade participates in a network of more than 260 centers nation-wide, of which only 15 facilities were recognized as Centers of Distinction. Full Story

New recruits to the rescue
North County Regional Fire Authority hosted its annual North County Regional Firefighter Academy Class 09-09 along with Snohomish County Fire District 17. For the past five months, 17 recruits have trained three days a week on the basics of becoming firefighters. Full Story

The Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild announced the winners of its 7th Annual Spring Art Show
Stanwood-Camano Arts Guild art show was held June 5-7. Fifty-seven artists participated by entering over 275 works of art. Judges were Barbara De Pirro, Carrie Mood and M. Denis Hill. The RE/MAX Best in Show, People's Choice winner and first-place winners were awarded cash prizes along with ribbons. Second and third place winners also received ribbons. Full Story

Free clinic set to open
The ribbon's been cut and the all-volunteer staff of Safe Habor free clinic in Stanwood is ready to begin treating patients. The Safe Harbor clinic, which is slated to open Fri., June 19, will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Fridays each month. Full Story
