Former newsman loses battle with cancer, dead at 68
Stan Strick, 68, of Camano Island, died from complications of cancer treatment Thurs., June 4, at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.
Strick was a retired executive editor of "The Herald," where he worked for 27 years before retiring in 2007.
He was born Nov. 6, 1940 and grew up in Spokane.
Strick joined the Air Force at 17 after graduation from Gonzaga Preparatory School in 1958.
His career in journalism began during the 1960s at Gonzaga University, where he wrote for a student newspaper.
He went to work for United Press International at bureaus in Seattle, Olympia and Portland, Oregon.
Strick also reported for the "San Diego Evening Tribune" and "Minneapolis Star," where he was a reporter, assistant city editor and lifestyle editor.
He married Janet Strick in July 1979.
He leaves behind his wife, Janet, and their daughters.
