Recently I was asked why some churches don't grow. There is more than one reason churches don't grow, but to this person I said, "We often aren't real or we are afraid to be real." What do I mean by saying "We aren't real?" I mean we hide things about ourselves from one another. Full Story

Harvard medicine school acceptance
Xinli Hu, a 2003 graduate of Stanwood High School, has been accepted for admission to Harvard Medical School and will begin classes in August. Hu, who was a co-valedictorian at SHS, graduated from the University of Washington with a major in bio-medical engineering in 2007. Full Story

Community Focus
LOIS RUSKELL of Stanwood has recently completed the 18-month Washington Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Development Program. As a member of the Class 30 of the Leadership Program, she attended 14 seminars comprising 59 days of intensive training for service to the natural resource industries and rural communities of the State of Washington.
