New meeting location for Democrats Stanwood Mayor Dianne White will be the speaker at the June 13 monthly meeting of the Stanwood Democrats at Viking Restaurant, 88th/Highway 532 in Stanwood, 10 a.m. The mayor will speak about how changes coming to Stanwood will benefit citizens. An Aquasox baseball game will be a fundraiser for the county Democrats June 27. Tickets will be available at the Saturday meeting.

Learn the art of tea tasting Friday "Tea Tasting 101," is Fri., June 19, 10 a.m. at the Stanwood Library. Learn the art of tea tasting Savor the difference between a wide variety of specialty teas in this hands-on workshop. For more information, contact Leslie Moore, managing librarian, 629-3132.

Ancestry Workshop open to public Sat., June 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the public is invited to discover family roots with Ancestry.com, a genealogical research workshop at the Stanwood Library. Master Gardeners conduct clinic Sat., June 13, there will be a Master Gardener clinic at Orchards Nursery, located at the west end city limits of Stanwood. Bring your gardening questions and/or samples of plants between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The clinic has WSU-trained gardeners ready to help with sound gardening issues.

Boating course offered, register now America's Boating Course (ABC) is a basic boating course produced through a partnership between the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadrons®. Classes will be Wednesdays, July 8 - Aug. 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Stanwood Community and Senior Center, 7439 276th St. NW. Register through Colleen Wilcox, 629-7403, or c.wilcox@stanwoodseniorcenter.org. There is a registration fee plus a cost at the door for materials. The Americas Boating Course meets all U.S. and Canadian education requirements and qualifies for the WA State Boater Safety education card.

Hero Quilters set June 13 meeting The Stanwood-Camano Hero Quilters will meet Sat., June 13 at the Stanwood Community and Senior Center in the social room, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The address is 7430 276th St. NW, north of the high school stadium. "We will be making quilts for the American Hero Quilts project, www.americanheroquilts. com," said a spokeswoman. The group makes quilts that are given to wounded soldiers. Bingo night will benefit Silvana Fair The Silvana Community Fair is having a bingo night, Sun., June 14, 6 p.m. at Viking Hall in Silvana, to provide free admission to the fair, which is July 25. The snack bar will be open. NAMI-Northsound group won't meet NAMI-Northsound, a support group for family and friends of the mentally ill, will not meet in June, said a spokesperson. Watch for notice of the next meeting in this paper.

Old Time Fiddlers camp out here The Old Time Fiddlers meet Fridays, June 12, 26 and July 24 at the Sisco Heights Community Club, 13527 99th Ave. NE, Arlington. Between July 9 and 11, the group will be at their campout on the Stanwood/Camano Fairgrounds; all are welcome. There will be free stage shows in the Stillaguamish Grange Hall at 7 p.m., July 10 and 11. This Friday, Celtic jam is at 5 p.m., workshop at 6 p.m., and circle jam begins at 7 p.m., with music, jamming and snacks throughout the evening of free family entertainment; listeners and acoustic musicians of all ages (and their instruments) are welcome.

Ciscoe Morris at Rose Festival Christianson's Nursery will host the sixth annual Rose Festival June 20 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tri-Valley Rose Society will have a rose display; "flower pounding" by Opal Cocke is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; "cooking with roses," Joanne Romann, 10:30 a.m. to noon; bouquets from the garden, 1 to 2 p.m.; "landscaping with roses" by Ciscoe Morris, 2:30 p.m.; and a rose ice cream social at 3:30 p.m.

'Watt's hydropower' is lunch topic All women from the Stanwood-Camano area are invited to a June 25 luncheon at the Marysville Golden Corral, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn how and where we get our electricity from PUD school educator Kass Clark. Flag Day dedication for old flags Boyer Daniel Post 1561 VFW, with help from the Stillaguamish Pioneer Association, Arlington High School JROTC, and the local Naval Sea Cadet Corp, will be holding a day of dedication Flag Day, Sun., June 14, at the Stillaguamish Valley Pioneer Museum at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. People may bring in their worn and tattered flags for proper retirement, as well as flags from fallen heros to be folded and dedicated so they may display them if they choose. LaConner's annual power boat show LaConner's 13th annual power boat show is Sat., June 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at LaConner Marina. There will be free admission and food, swap meet and fund-raiser. Food and raffle will benefit Skagit Bay search and Rescue.

Free medical clinic opens June 19 The Safe Harbor free clinic will open the first and third Fridays beginning June 17, at the Stanwood/Camano Medical Center, 9631 269th St. NW. Call 870-254-7384 for more information. Clinic services will include basic office laboratory testing and referral for more complex problems, well child visits and immunizations. Medications are provided through monthly generic programs offered by local pharmacies. The event is walk-in only; no appointments, 6 to 9 a.m.

Registration open now for VBS St. Cecilia Catholic Church is holding a vacation Bible school June 22-26. This year's theme is "Passport to Bible Land." Children between the ages of 4 years through the fifth grade, are welcome to sessions 9 a.m. through 12 noon. Registrations are being accepted now. A Taste of Seattle for Father's Day Just in time for Father's Day, Primrose, the antiques and gift store at Christianson's Nursery, is hosting a tasting of its newest line of gourmet foods prepared by the Boat Street Café & Deli, located near Pike Place Market. Primrose will be open 1 and 3 p.m. Sat., June 13, and visitors are invited to sample foods that would make a savory gift for any Dad.

Continue to 'Stock the Pantry'

A "Stock the Pantry" food drive continues until June 14, helping to feed outof school children and their families during summer months. Bartell Drugs launched the food drive with Northwest Harvest by accepting nonperishable food donations at all 55 Bartell Drug locations including the Stanwood store in the Stanwood Camano Village.

Rosemaling workshop at Sons of Norway Daughters of Norway Ingeborg Lodge #43 presents a lecture and workshop with Roberta Morrow on rosemaling Sat., June 13 at the Sons of Norway Hall, 9910 270th St., in Stanwood.
