Fill the boot

Stanwood Camano Fire & Rescue Island fire fighters will volunteer their time Fri., June 5 and Sat., June 6  from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help local adults and children with neuromuscular diseases in the annual “Fill the Boot” drive. 

Fire fighters will be in front of Haggen in Stanwood and QFC on Camano Island, ready for shoppers and residents to donate cash and checks to help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).  The fire fighters hope to raise $4,000 for MDA.

Last year, local firefighters raised almost $2,000 for MDA. The funds supported research, sent two children to camp, and paid for clinical services, equipment and general support MDA provides to area patients.
