County has 'ending homelessness' funds
Snohomish County has awarded 19 projects about $1.5 million in the third year of available Ending Homelessness funds.
A total of 27 projects and agencies applied for $2.2 million in funding. Only 19 projects and agencies were awarded grants. Ending Homelessness funds are used to support agencies that are working within the goals of Snohomish County's 10-year housing plan to end homelessness known as "Everyone at Home Now."
Projects selected will advance the county's effort to reduce homelessness with innovative programs based on national models that have shown success.
"Snohomish County has a long history of exciting and successful human service innovations," county Executive Aaron Reardon said. "These projects are another example of the county's leadership to promote new models for ending homelessness and to meet the goals of our 10- year plan."
Projects are reviewed by an independent committee, which makes recommendations to the county's human services director, Ken Stark. Stark recently approved the recommendations.
The following organizations received funds: Catholic Community Services, Cocoon House, Community Health Center, Compass Health, Domestic Violence Services, Housing Hope, Salvation Army, Volunteers of America and YWCA.
