MAGNAR A. FLONES

Magnar "Bucky" Flones passed away May 19, 2009.

He was born April 25, 1936 to Edward and Inga Flones in Stanwood. He graduated from Stanwood High School in 1954. From 1955-1956, he attended Skagit Valley College, where he played basketball. He worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska for 30 years. He fished on a halibut schooner with his father.

He was a mechanic, and for 13 years, operated an Arco Station on Highway 20 in Sedro Woolley, WA. In 1996, he and his wife, Loretta, moved to Wenatchee, where he worked as an events custodian for the Wenatchee School District until his retirement in 2002.

Bucky married Loretta (Redd) Flones on July 6, 1956. Together, they raised three sons, Mark, Brian and David, all of Wenatchee.

Bucky is survived by his wife; children; eight grandchildren; his brothers, Melvin, of Stanwood, Richard of Fillmore, UT, and Peter of Gig Harbor; and his sister-in-law, Janice Mollner, of Torrence, CA.

Bucky enjoyed fishing with his family and long-time friend, Ed Marsh. He loved to garden and take care of his raspberry bushes. He also enjoyed completing the daily crossword, watching baseball, and eating pickled herring. He loved to spend time on Camano Island, where he enjoyed the saltwater and sea air with his family and friends.

An celebration of Bucky's life will be held on Camano Island at a later date.
