Smith sets pace for Spartan golfers

The Stanwood Spartans, led by Wade Smith's 77, finished sixth in the Western Conference North divisional tournament held at Everett's Walter Hall Golf Course last week.

The Sparts' 427 cumulative score was 48 strokes behind conference champion Snohomish, which had 379 points. Lake Stevens (415), Cascade (418), Everett (420), Marysville Pilchuck (422) and Oak Harbor (424) were just ahead of Stanwood's boys.

Jordon Solvberg, Marshall Carlson and Jeff Epperson shot 86's for the Spartans, while John Thayer finished with 92 strokes.
