Our post office needs upgrade

Dear Editor:

I recently needed to overnight mail a letter at about 1 p.m. After waiting in the usual long line at the Stanwood post office, I was told it couldn't be done from Stanwood, but the Smokey Point post office could, if I could get there before 2 p.m.

At Smokey Point, there were no people waiting in line, and my letter was promptly over-nighted. Is it possible that our post office was built and designed for a much smaller population than what we have now?

I have rarely been in the post office without having to wait in a line that stretched to the interior door and often beyond.

Usually, one of the three stations isn't staffed, making the wait even longer.

Is there anything we can do to make our postal facility more in line with our needs?
