Stanwood High School seniors Cameron Bailey and Kelsey Dingman are the 2009 winners of Camano Arts Association and Stanwood Camano Arts Guild art scholarships.

Bailey, the son of Davin and Amiee Bailey of Stanwood, was also awarded the Borree family art scholarship and was chosen as one of three recipients of the Art League North scholarship. He also won the Bernie Webber Memorial Art Scholarship. He will study painting at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore this fall.

Dingman, the daughter of Kevin and Sherry Dingman of Stanwood, will major in art at Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Under the guidance of Stanwood High School graphic arts teacher, Gail Merrick, both students completed the Advanced Placement studio art course and exam their senior year, won Scholastic Art awards, were active in the Artist-Mentor program, and were volunteers for many local art shows.

At this year's Camano Island Studio Tour, Portraits by Indy, in downtown Stanwood, provided space for Bailey to exhibit, and artist Liz Hamlin provided the same for Dingman in her studio on Arrowhead Road.
