Sally Voogd was born Sept. 21, 1933 in Salt Lake City, UT and passed away May 5, 2009 at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA. Sally Jean Hunt grew up in Idaho and moved to Tacoma, WA as a young girl during World War II. In 1950, she moved to Seattle and graduated from Ballard High School in 1951. On April 30, 2009, after a courageous fight against cancer, Frederick Charles Phillips quietly passed away surrounded by his loving family. On Dec. 31, 1941, Fred was born to Catherine (Dunham) Bamer and George Phillips in Brainerd, MN. Full Story
ALMA L. HANSETH
Alma Laurine Hanseth, 95, passed away Mon., May 11, 2009 at Stanwood, WA. She and twin sister, Agnes, were born July 24, 1913 in the middle of hay season at their family's Norman Road farmhouse. Alma grew up on the farm and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1932. The quote in her annual was "Short & sweet & hard to beat" and was so true to the end. Full Story
KENNETH J. STANLEY
Kenneth James Stanley, age 58, of Issaquah, died May 11, 2009. Born May 22, 1950, to Cecil and Doris Fure Stanley, and lived in Everett until age 9, when his family moved to Stanwood. After graduation from Stanwood High School in 1968, Ken lived in Stanwood and Camano Island, moved to Lynnwood and lived most recently in Issaquah. Full Story
RICHARD G. HAATVEIT
Richard G. Haatveit, 84, longtime resident of Stanwood, died Tues., May 12, 2009. Dick was born Jan. 8, 1925 to Vaarl and Else Haatveit in Thief River Falls, MN. In early days, he worked for Seattle City Light in Nehalem, WA. He also worked for the Stanwood oyster farm and Twin City Foods in Stanwood for 41 years. Full Story

James Fredrick Yant, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Born Dec. 19, 1942 in Mc- Cook, Nebraska. Passed away May 1, 2009 in Stanwood, WA, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He owned an auto upholstery business for over 40 years. Full Story
STEVEN J. WICKDALL
Steven John Wickdall departed for heaven April 10, 2009. Steve was born in Mount Vernon in 1948 and graduated from Stanwood High School in 1967. He spent four years in the Navy. His parents were Ron and Nora Wickdall of Stanwood. Full Story
