'He painted outside the lines'
Recently, I conducted a memorial service for a woman local to our community. She lived a full and colorful life. As I prepared for what I was to say, I found myself thinking that if this woman had lived 2,000 years ago, she would have found Jesus quite compelling. Full Story
Eagle Scout
Donald A. McLees, a member of Boy Scout Troop #46, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout Nov. 20, 2008. His project was to erect a privacy fence at the United Methodist Church parsonage. It included removal and cleanup of brush and trees, as welling as putting up the new fence. The Troop Court of Honor was held May 15 at the church. Full Story

Bobo is an affectionate 2- year-old, male beagle. He's a fun-loving, energetic dog, who does well with other dogs and enjoys a good play session. Local art scholarships awarded
Stanwood High School seniors Cameron Bailey and Kelsey Dingman are the 2009 winners of Camano Arts Association and Stanwood Camano Arts Guild art scholarships. Bailey, the son of Davin and Amiee Bailey of Stanwood, was also awarded the Borree family art scholarship and was chosen as one of three recipients of the Art League North scholarship. Full Story

Two Stanwood High School seniors have been awarded the prestigious Washington Scholar Scholarship that pays tuition for four years of Washington state tuition. They are THEA MARRIOTT and JOHN MIGHELL, and they will be honored at a luncheon with their legislators in Olympia May 20. Thea has chosen to attend UW, and John has chosen Whitman college in Walla Walla. Full Story
