Last Tuesday's Stanwood- Camano School Board meeting brought good news for some district teachers. Staff cuts unanimously passed by the board were different from those proposed two weeks earlier. Farmers markets return in city and on island Stanwood market in the works, Camano's opened over weekend

A congregation of community
With eyes closed and hands held, more than 120 people gathered Thursday at noon in the Haggen Food and Pharmacy parking lot in Stanwood to participate in the 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. Area pastors and religious leaders led the group in prayers seeking God's guidance and protection for government, military, families, youth, those struggling with illness and the nation as a whole. Council extends mini-city moratorium
County residents will have to wait a little longer for a Snohomish County Council decision on fully-contained communities. The county council unanimously extended the moratorium on applications for fully-contained communities, also called mini-cities, until Aug. 31 in a public hearing Wednesday. Full Story
