Laura Morton of Costa Mesa, CA and Dan Eddy of Stanwood, together with their families, are proud to announce their engagement to be married. The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Cal State University of Fullerton, and is a behavioral therapist in Ventura, CA. The Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp donated the game designed by Barry Reed. The game has an interactive, competitive focus, where up to 12 people can use nylon pull cords to launch 3x5-inch diameter wooden tops at speeds up to 25 to 30 thousand revolutions per minute. The Spot would like to thank Warm Beach Christian Camp, Warm Beach Free Methodist Church, Stanwood Elementary, Cascade Lumber, Stanwood Hardware and Camwood Counseling for their support. First at science fair
Five students, fourth through ninth grades, represented Arlington Christian School at the Association of Christian Schools International District Science Fair Fri., April 24 at Fairview Christian School in Seattle. Of the five entries, four brought home superior ribbons (the highest award possible) for their projects. Prepared for disaster
North County Regional Fire Authority completed a community emergency response team (CERT) course for local residents. Participants were Dale Heaton, Geri Heaton, Lani Murry, Frank Murry, Steve Wilson, Deborah Warrick, Jackie Olson, John Litzinger, Linda Thompson, Carl Friedericks, Shawn Burnham, Jeff Berg, Larry Gonzales, Jim Reynolds, Walter Warren, Don Spears, Jim Kaneen and instructor firefighter Matt Johnsen. Monday Study Club is 95!
What's 95 years old, but still full of vitality, with a spring in its step? It's the Monday Study Club, a group of some 28 redoubtable women, who meet two Mondays a month to give reports on a designated topic. It all started in 1913, when a group of Stanwood women figured they needed some intellectual stimulation in their lives. Full Story

EARLY HISTORY C.J. Berry was a pioneer of the Freeborn District, having homesteaded there in 1895. He was a volunteer fireman in Seattle when a big fire destroyed it in 1888. 100 YEARS AGO (1909) The manager and the superintendent of Pacific Coast Condensed Milk Co. were in Stanwood to arrange preliminary work for the building of the new milk condenser. Jacob David Delano was born to Christine Hinds (Cauchon) and Robert Delano at Providence Hospital May 2, 2009, 7:02 a.m. He weighed six pounds, 15 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. He joins proud big brother, Christopher and big sister, Danica. Full Story
