I have lived on Camano Island for my entire 54 years and have never seen such wasteful spending of the taxpayers’ dollars in my entire life.
Let’s start with the $5 million train platform. How in the world can you justify that chunk of concrete and a cover for $5 million? Full Story

I see that Island County is running out of money, and that there are reportedly only two options: increase tax rates or cut expenses.
But there is a third option: increasing the tax base by encouraging development of commercial and industrial projects. Instead, the county has a history of thwarting those projects. Full Story

Dear Editor:
I love our library. I use the Internet to order books from other branches. I use the online catalog to see if books are on the shelf or checked out. I even recently learned that you can download books for free! I belong to a book club that reads a different genre each month.
The only thing I don’t like is actually going into the library. Full Story
